Just Go to Bed.

The other night my husband knew I had had a long day and told me to just go to bed.

I wanted to say so much, but I stayed silent. Why? Because I knew he wouldn’t understand that just going to bed isn’t as simple as that for moms.

He told me, “Just go to bed.”

Ok but first I need to finish putting supper away and oh ya don’t forget to set out the chicken for supper tomorrow night so it has time to thaw. Then swing by your grocery list to write down macaroni and cheese that you ran out of two days ago but keep forgetting to stop and put it on your list.

And then there’s dishes in the sink that no one finished loading the dishwasher so you do that, put the soap in and start it. Grab a drink from the fridge and take your medicine.

Did someone remember to lock the door? Nope. Ok go lock it then what about the kids’ bags, are they ready to go for tomorrow morning?

Ok that’s done now I need to shower. Get out of the shower and realize you’re on the last towel. Get dressed for bed and start a load of laundry.

Finally start to head to your bed. You make it to the door and then – you’re kids ask if you can lay with them. Dad already has but they need you. They want you to cuddle with them before they close their eyes. You take a deep breath and go lay with each of them. Kiss them goodnight. Tuck them under the covers.

Then, finally, you get to crawl into your bed.

And this is why can’t women just go to bed.
