About

Hello! My name is Amber (Heinrich) Selman and I am a farm daughter, mom and wife. I grew up on a diversified farm in Eastern Iowa. We had dairy, beef, corn, soybeans, alfalfa and oats. This is the same farm now where my husband, Ben, farm with my family and raise our three children (2 girls and a boy).

Agriculture and specifically dairy has always been close to my heart. It’s something many people don’t get to experience so I love to share the story of agriculture with them. From a new baby calf to why brown cows don’t produce chocolate milk.

I’ve also come to realize that being a farm wife and mother and daughter in a multi-generational farm family has its own unique challenges and rewards. This is another story I love to share – my life as a farm wife and mom. I understand many women are in the same position and I want them to know they are not alone and maybe my story will help inspire someone else along the way!

Thanks for following along on my journey and enjoy the stories!

I’m Amber

Welcome to Caring for Calves and Kids. I’m a 5th generation dairy farmer farming with my parents and husband while trying to raise 3 kids. Life is crazy, messy and so much fun! It’s hard to be a mom and sometimes even harder when you farm. So to ensure no one else feels alone I’m sharing my stories. Enjoy!
