Why did I send the magic sleep blanket to daycare?

This past week my kids came home from daycare for the final time. They have loved every minute of being there over the last 7 ½ years. I have loved it too. The staff and programming is amazing and truly are a second family for my kids.

As I was unpacking stuff the daycare sent home was the blankets my kids used for nap time. Immediately, my kids knew it was their “sleep time” blanket. They ran around the house cuddling them saying “I need this to sleep.” My mind immediately went to all those times I told my family and friends, I wish my kids slept at home like they do at daycare. Those teachers must have the magic touch.

*Light Bulb Moment*

In fact, it was that I had sent the magic sleep blanket to daycare. The one blanket I picked out of all the ones we were showered with once they were born and I just had to pick the one that magically gets them to fall asleep without any fussing. Ok, ok, I’m sure you are probably laughing a little bit at this and I realize that a magic blanket doesn’t exist, but it truly reinforces to me the safety and love that my kids felt while at daycare.

They felt safe enough, loved enough, cared for enough to go to sleep surrounded by this magic blanket, their friends and the amazing teacher. The care and love that was shown to my kids truly made them feel at home while they were there. It again showed me how daycare was another family not only for me, but for my children as well.

Now maybe next time I won’t let the one and only magic blanket leave my house. 😂
