Every year around this time we spend hours, days and week over about a month picking black and red raspberries. At the peak it takes about an hour and half to pick all our patches around the farm (and that doesn’t count the ones we go find out in the field.) That is a lot of time to think. A lot.
The one thought that always comes to my mind each year is how simply changing our perspective, looking at something from a different angle can reap rewards. Think about it – to pick raspberries you have to look from the top down, from the bottom up, from the left, from the right, from all angles.
And what if you didn’t look at the raspberry bush from all different angles, from all different perspectives? Well you wouldn’t have the most amount of berries you could have.

If I only looked from the top down on the bushes I’d probably only get about half the yield of raspberries which means less desserts, less fresh berries and less homemade jam for my family.
This is something we can truly apply to all areas of our life. It takes all different perspectives, all different angles, all different kinds of people to get the most reward. Whether that is a brainstorm meeting, figuring out how to get a project done, coming up with the most innovative social post, brainstorming what the next adventure for the farm could be. The possibilities are endless when various perspectives and ideas are used.
And now I promise you’ll never look at raspberries the same again!
