It doesn’t matter if you are a farmer’s wife or a farmer’s husband. Farmer relationships can be tough, but they can also be so unique. So here are 5 creative ways to date your farmer.

- Pick Wildflowers. No need to spend $50 on a bouquet. Simply picking a handful of flowers from the ditch, beside a pasture, and bringing them home will show that you were thinking of them that day. It says I love you.
- Do the Chores Together. On all farms, especially livestock farms, there are always chores to be done. So why not ride along with them? Go with them while they are doing the mundane. Keep the kids in daycare or have them stay with someone to give you some more 1:1 time. It’s amazing how doing the little things together can strengthen your relationship. And it can be fun!
- Have a Picnic. Take them lunch and have a picnic on a truck tailgate, in a tractor, on a strawbale, in the yard, wherever it is a simple gesture like lunch also shows how much you care. It’s also so simple!
- Take a ride. Here in Iowa we have gravel roads so my husband and I love to just take a ride on a 4wheeler or our side by side or even in a truck. Check out the local scenery and take in the beauty together.
- Do a project together. Do you have a project? Does your significant other have a project? Is there a goal you can work towards? When you two do something together there’s something magical that happens. It is a way to bring you closer together.

No matter what it is, don’t be afraid to be creative to keep that spark going with your farmer.
