The Two Words Moms Will Never Hear

Oh momma, I know each day of motherhood comes with such an arrange of emotions. From wanting to tear your hair out to so much love for your child it makes you want to cry. You are chasing after the kids from room to room and activity to activity. You are trying to make sure everyone is fed and clothed, but there are two words you will never hear or at least not hear it often enough.

THANK YOU!

So here it is ladies – thank you. Thank you for always making the house you live in a home. You make it a welcome and open place where friends and family can gather.

Thank you for making the grocery list, shopping for food as well as making and planning every meal for the rest of your life. It’s something that definitely gets old and often goes unnoticed or if you have kids it’s often accompanied by “I don’t like that.”

Thank you for washing, drying, folding and putting away all the laundry. It seriously is a never-ending task. Once you get done, it starts all over again.

Thank you for being the go-for. Whether it is parts, transferring your farmer from field to field, shuffling kids from activity to activity or helping your parents and in-laws. You are always there to help and ready to drop what you’re doing and go for whatever is needed.

Thank you for keeping schedules and to-do lists to make sure the heater filter gets cleaned or the kids get their 6-month dental cleaning or kids get registered for school or the million other little things you have to remember to keep life moving on the farm.

Thank you for cleaning the house or shop or farm office without being asked. It may not look HGTV camera ready, but it’s enough to keep it organized and be welcoming and inviting.

Thank you for all that you do. While you likely don’t get as many Thank Yous as you should, here it is now. I’m shouting it from the roof top for you! I promise your family appreciates it even if they don’t say it all the time.

I’m Amber

Welcome to Caring for Calves and Kids. I’m a 5th generation dairy farmer farming with my parents and husband while trying to raise 3 kids. Life is crazy, messy and so much fun! It’s hard to be a mom and sometimes even harder when you farm. So to ensure no one else feels alone I’m sharing my stories. Enjoy!
